DAHL
/ BALDWIN - Fuel/water separator
ADVANTAGES DAHL
/ BALDWIN patented
fuel/water separator, works using a
3-stage separator system.
Fuel flows
straight from the upper
part of the separator to the bowl, so that air
bubbles are not entrapped
in the system and flow resistance is reduced.
The
depressurizer cone separates 100% of the water
and 80% of
the solid contaminants.
The
filter element of the separator, which can
be made with paper of 30, 10 or 2
microns, holds the rest of the solid
particles before they reach the fuel
pump. The paper of the filter element
is impregnated with resin, so that
can hold all moisture, which may
be contained in the fuel.
DAHL fuerl/water
separator includes a reverse flow
valve which does not allow fuel to
flow back to the track during shut-down. |

FLOW DIAGRAM
1. The contaminated
fuel enters the inlet port
2. The T-Bolt redirects the fuel downward through the centertube
3. Fuel flows through the reverse flow valve
4. Fuel flow is spread by the depressurizer cone
5. As fuel is discharged from the depressurizer cone, 80% of contaminant separation
takes place. Most of the solid particles and water settle into the quiet zone
of the bowl
6. As the fuel rises upward, any remaining minute water droplets coalesce on
cone, baffle and bowl surfaces. Droplet size and weight gradually increase causing
downward flow into sump
7. Fuel is filtered completely by the element. The clean fuel then continues
upward through the outlet port and on to the pump and injection system |
